Innovation, Science and Economic Development is the agency of the federal government of Canada that has legal authority over radio communications in Canada.
The governing piece of legislation is the Radiocommunication Act. Under that legal framework ISED develops regulations, policies and procedures for the administration of the radio spectrum in Canada as well as the various services that operate in it, such as land mobile, aeronautical, marine, broadcast and amateur.
