Do you aspire to get your amateur radio license and get on the air? Perhaps you are already a ham and want to upgrade your license class?
The steps to get your amateur radio station on the air are:
- Get your amateur radio operator’s certificate (learn the required material and take an examination)
- Get your call sign from ISED (Industry Science and Economic Development Canada)
The QCARC does not offer training courses but if you are in the Alberta capital region we can connect you with designated examiners in the area who can administer the required examinations. Contact us and ask.
Training courses are available from a variety of sources. Some searching online will help you find organizations that offer amateur radio courses either in person in your area or online. You can also go the self-study route using one of the Canadian amateur radio study guides that are available from several sources.
After a successful completion of the examinations ISED will issue you an Amateur Radio Operator’s Certificate with the commensurate qualifications. You can then request a call sign for your station from ISED.
